Self Growth Part 3: Plan your week
A to-do list tells you what to do. A weekly plan tells you when. Twenty minutes on Sunday makes the rest of the week calmer.
Why a week beats a day
When you plan day by day, the urgent things win, and the important ones, like placement prep, the project report or exercise, keep sliding to "tomorrow". Planning a whole week lets you make room for the important things before the urgent ones fill it.
The 20-minute Sunday plan
- Look back. What got done last week, what didn't, and why?
- Pick the three things that matter most this week. Ishaan's: two mock tests, the first draft of his project report, and the gym three times.
- Put in the fixed things: classes, deadlines, family plans.
- Block time for your three, with days and times, like appointments.
- Fit smaller tasks into the gaps.
Leave room
Plan only about two thirds of your free time. Things usually take longer than you expect, and something unplanned nearly always turns up. A plan with no slack falls apart by Tuesday.
A two-minute check each morning
Look at today's blocks and adjust. It's fine to move things, but move them to a real day and time, not to "someday".
Use what you'll actually open
A paper diary, your phone's calendar or the planner on WIK. The tool matters less than the Sunday habit.
Try it
This Sunday, take 20 minutes: look back at last week, pick your three big things, and block time for them before any smaller task goes in.
